Had dinner there two weeks ago . My bf ordered pasta with seafoods . It was ok he said... But he doesn't cook .. I ordered trout topped with crab meats.. It was deep fried with heavy battered .. It has a odd taste I couldn't figure which was wrong .. I had few bites and had to put my utensil down ..Restaurant like this it is not possible to mess up fresh trout and it was the special on the menu .. It was a birthday dinner so I didn't make a complain to our waitress.. For what we spend it was not worth the drive for special occasion dinner . But I've had breakfast there before it was great I was bragging about the place .. Our waitress was great.

I am pretty new to Mississippi and coming from California, I have learned A LOT! I am ALWAYS down for Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or Arabic food. Hands down! Since were new to the area and my husband spends majority of his time on base, we always turn to Yelp. He was opposed to trying this place because he said he hasn't noticed a large (or anyway, really) Mediterranean or Middle Eastern Community. The reviews on this place from Yelp to Trip Adviser to Google all have great ratings for this place. What's the worst that could happen? I eat enough Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food to definitely form a solid opinion, I feel anyway. The service was very very very slow.. People were being seated after us and served before us. The Chicken Kebab plate was very very dry and the rice honestly tasted like it had bouillon powder over it. The hummus was thick and paste like and the pita was hard. The Falafel was dense and not light and fluffy. I ripped all of the pieces and the mixture was still very wet. The tabbouleh was pretty good, I will say. Overall we were really disappointed and it's been a little bit of a challenge to find good Mediterranean food.

Spotty service and ok dishes makes me rate Phoenicia 3 stars. The family has come here for many years for breakfast and dinners. The last few visits we were missing silverware, waters didn't get refilled and orders did not come out together. For the price you just expect something a little better here.

Absolutely the Beat Breakfast on the Coast. Beautiful omelette, stuffed with fresh ingredients. Great service, beautiful surroundings.

Phoenicia is spot on! My wife and I had dinner on a Thursday evening. I will be the first to say that I didn't expect the huge variety of items on the menu. I thought it was JUST Mediterranean food such as grape leaves, swarma, and such. While they had that on the menu they also had steaks, seafood, italian and mexican dishes! Our server was top notch, he made our dinner experience perfect. Once seated he told us about the specials that were available. NOTE: they are BYOB or Wine! No liquor license, which is okay by me I can bring my own. They will supply the glasses or ice. Every tables gets complimentary warm fresh pita and homemade hummus. It was fantastic! For an appetizer I had a cup of oyster and artichoke soup, which was on point I would recommend it. For an entree, I had the grilled red snapper topped with crabmeat with a "creole" cream sauce on top along with mixed grilled veggies. My wife had seafood scampi atop pasta, it was loaded with shrimp, crabmeat, and crawfish. Both dishes were served with a choice of salads. The dishes were seasoned perfect and fresh! For dessert there were several great choices but we picked the molten chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I really didn't want to share any with my wife but it was her birthday so I let her have some ;). I would definitely return to try other items on the menu.....

From the moment you step inside, Phoenicia is clearly a place for quiet time alone or with friends. Meredith, although new, is a pleasant addition to the staff. I came for breakfast and I'm looking forward to coming back for dinner.

Love eating here when I want Lebanese foods! I ordered to go and as always they deliver quality and flavor! We ordered 3 chicken schwarma, chicken quesdilla (a lil bit of Mexico) and crab cakes! All was delish and filling! Had leftovers--love!!!

Not sure why the four stars. Service was terrible until Laura took over. Thank goodness. The lamb was over cooked. The gravy is made from a mix. And not sure why the chef thinks every plate needs to have paprika on the sides of every plate. Old fashion outdated food. They serve the food in a bowl, difficult to cut the lamb in a bowl. However Laura is a fabulous server.

Just ok. No flavor or pop in the food and ended up still hungry. Won't be back for a while. Last time was better. Both food and staff had no social energy.

Food fabulous, server great, atmosphere very pleasant. Why not a 5 star? I asked for a glass of wine and was told they do not have alcohol. But, the server said I could bring in my own. No problem, I had a small individual bottle in the car. Butttt, she said there is a $5.00 charge to bring it in. I told her I need no corking or chilling. $5.00 charge. We are small eaters so asked to split one of the specials. $5.00 charge to split. No problem but could i please bring in my wine in the same one $5.00 charge??? No, Mr. Sam the owner says no. It would be an additional $5.00 charge. We almost walked out. I did not enjoy my wine with the meal. Give the customer "the pickle". This is very shortsighted of him. We will not be back, regretfully so:(.

Allow me to start with the food. I ordered the moussaka--one of the specials of the day--and received two hard, room temperature eggplant pucks, slathered in processed cheese, bathed in an unidentifiable, odorless, flavorless ,white goo; with a side of cold Hungry Jack instant mashed potatoes. Now, I like Hungry Jack potatoes--they're pretty good if you heat them, and you're camping--but in a restaurant charging $30 for the plate, it displays well... contempt for one's customers? Chef, are you listening? I've had moussaka many times before. It's not expensive or difficult to make. Which leads me to congratulate you on getting that much cash for frozen vegetables with velveeta. I hope you didn't hurt your back digging around for my dinner in the back of the freezer. As for the service, it was entertaining-- I'll admit: utter bafflement at our insistence on eating; the poor, deeply confused fellow who eventually took our order after a ten minute recitation of the specials; the watching from the wings to see if we'd actually eat the stuff and not complain. Chef, I was so eager to flee your restaurant that you might've gotten more out of me, had you gone for $40 for the old goop plate. Congrats on that, and nice touch waiving the corkage fee after fleecing me. I wish you the best, and if you happen to be open a year for now, my hat's off to you.

I like this place one because great location. Everyone is really friendly here. They have good specials daily. Food is good! I love he rice here is so good. I hade fish special topped with crab meat was very good!

I am so disappointed by my experience here. It was listed as gluten free friendly and it absolutely is not. I ordered the chicken shawarma which came with rice and hummus. I started eating it and then realized there were noodles mixed in with the rice. The server was informed that I had celiac and did not bother to tell me there were noodles in the rice. I will not be returning here and I would suggest the restaurant educate their staff on food allergies.

View: This place is in downtown Ocean Springs Mississippi. The view is not that great. But, it is in a great area in downtown Ocean Springs. You can walk and shop in the downtown area. Parking can be a problem on busier days. This is true of most downtown places in Ocean Springs. It Service: I have never had a problem with service here. as I find the waitress or waiter usually very prompt. Food: I like the lemon fish blackened. The taste is not too fishy. The hummus is usually good. I came today though and there was no fresh fish which is a disappointment. I do not like the house salad so I usually get the Caesar salad. The Napoleon chicken is what I got today and it is excellent. I highly recommend it. Price: the price can be a little high depending on what you get.

Had dinner last night (9/26/14). Have had dinner here before and liked it so we went back, and we live 80 miles away. Started with the fried green tomato tower, because it had a Tasso cream sauce. Very good. Ordered the "special" fried soft shell crab and snapper for entre with becemel sauce. The seafood was well cooked, but the becemel sauce was so salty we could not enjoy the meal. The waiter offered a laundry list of specials that I should have recorded, because it was far too complex to remember, a nice handout would have made things much simpler. Just know that this sauce is very heavy with salt.

If you have food allergies DO NOT eat here! Not only was our server clueless as the what Gluten is but the manager as well. You might say that Management is intolerant to customers with allergies! When I asked for a substitute I was flat out denied one. So all I was served was one tiny dry omelet that was supposed to be mushroom and bacon. Two simple ingredients in which they forgot the bacon. I give them a generous one Star for the coffee.

Not sure how this place could have such a high rating to be honest. Very eclectic menu which is kind of all over the place. Not authentic Greek or Mediterranean food in my opinion. Good for OS but otherwise pass.

This was absolutely one of the finest breakfast cuisines that I have EVER had. The omelette with crab, shrimp, and crawfish is certainly the way to go. Nice decor, great ambiance, and fantastic downtown location make this place really cozy.

Dear reader, please be warned. If you want to spend way too much money for an 'eh' entree, I guess you can come here, if you don't mind the horrible bathrooms, the rickety tables, and the filthy floors. In fact, I'm not sure what you're paying for. The fact that's it's on Government Street? Other than that, there's nothing impressive about this place. Most dishes are $30 and up. Appetizers are $15-$20. And what we had didn't impress us much. It wasn't bad food, but we definitely won't be back.

Crab-cake eggs Benedict was a special for breakfast today! The crab-cake appeared to be pure crabmeat, no breadcrumbs!

  • Jaymie W.

My service was great, very nice waiter. The nice look of the building gave me high hopes for my meal. White table clothes, mirrored walls, plants & artwork - even a piano was a nice touch, though I wish it was being used! Even the bathroom was lovely with a sugar scrub for washing and softening ones hands. The meal started out great - a nice Lebanese iced tea and the best soup ever! Don't miss the crab & artichoke bisque. I wish I had only ordered a large dish of that! Yum!!! My entree however wasn't a winner. I had chicken shawarma & tabouli salad. It wasn't bad, but I just wasn't impressed. I should have just stuck with the soup, as it was hard to top! Great service though, so I would come back.

This visit to Phoenicia was completely different than the first time. We decided to try this place for breakfast, which in retrospect, was a bad decision. (The first time was for dinner). Our waiter spoke with my husband the whole time, only looking at him when going over the specials, which made me feel invisible or unimportant. We ended up getting their potato pancakes with sour cream and apple sauce, hashbrowns, and their german pancake with apple (my husband has spent 14 years in Germany and has never heard of a German pancake with apple on the inside). I've had potato pancakes in several other restaurants and I have to say, these were some of the worst. They were thick, had potato and egg, and were spiced completely wrong. We ate one of the three, leaving the other two to be taken back to the chicken. My husband's pancake had a hair on the plate, so he completely lost his appetite and sent half of it back to the kitchen. In the waiter's defense, he and the manager removed the cost of this dish from the bill. They were very quick to bring us drink refills. The hummus and pita, which are free, were delicious and I think this is the best hummus I've ever had. Still the quick refills and hummus aren't enough to save this visit. We got their chicken quesadilla, fried green tomato stack, and veg grape leaves to go for dinner. It was all okay, but really very average, so I can only think this food is better eaten fresh in the restaurant or just wasn't very good today. The breakfast was horrible. We probably won't return anytime soon.

I have been to this gem several times. For lunch and dinner, with family and on romantic dates, and have not been disappointed even once. The food and service is phenomenal! There is even a piano man occasionally for entertainment! The next time I am in town I will be going for the Sunday brunch (with some champagne ;) If you want alcohol you have to bring your own. I highly recommend the "Steak St. Michelle". It is so exquisitely tender it literally melts in your mouth. Oh, and the Lebanese tea is really good and different.

Outstanding Sunday brunch. Wonderful food. Fresh and lots of it. service was perfect. Cannot wait to come back. The crab cake Benedict was 95% crabmeat, with a fresh hollendaise. One member of our group ordered off the lunch menu and said the Beef Shrawma platter was delish!

I had a great lunch here on the way out of town. They have wonderful representations of Mediterranean food and would happily refer the place to anyone in the mood. Interior is white table cloth, mirrored walls, faux marble floors, and the obligatory Mediterranean scenic murals. We had the odd waitress out of the lot and I'm not going to fault them for that, since every place has one weird one. The other waitresses seemed very prompt on time and friendly though. Food was very good ranging from tabouli, schwarma, pasta dishes as well as a long list of weekly/daily specials from the chef. I wish their location was more prominent and closer to the coast for the selfish sake of access but it seems to fair well tucked back in Ocean Springs.

Totally disappointed, more like pissed off! Went out to eat for a special occasion, thought the prices would be fairly reasonable given the sort of homey rundown eclectic outside appearance of the building. I was shocked to see the $50+ steak menu. Okay. So the waiter described what would surely taste like heaven in my mouth. I was sold. Dinner was just okay. No, in fact, just about everything had one thing that was "off". From the no liquor license, which meant BYOB, to the long delays in service, to the meat being severely undercooked and had to get sent back, to the small portions. By the end of the meal, I promised my kid dessert. Instead of ordering something too rich, we went with plain vanilla ice cream. Got the bill and had no problem paying over $120 for two steaks, but by god, who charges someone $7.95 for three tiny scoops of ice cream?!?! Times two!! Seriously, gourmet restaurant or not, surely there's a mistake?!? Nope. Response was "all of our desserts are $7.95." Really?! I had to leave before someone got "counseled" in bad business practices. After thinking about the whole dining experience, I felt insulted. I had a choice to eat anywhere on the coast, and I chose this place thinking I was going to get great food, great service and great value. Instead I got undercooked food and was over charged for ice cream, not to mention the whole restaurant was filled with layers of visible smoke. It was obvious that their ventilation over the grill was highly inadequate. I left that place feeling like I just left a casino bar. I took a shower the second I got home. The nasty smoke permeated my clothes and hair. Gross. It's 4 in the morning as I write this, because I'm still pissed! Guess my money won't be going back there!

Eaten here 3 times and food has been fantastic and service exceptional. Chris is our favorite server. Favorite dish is the Surf and Turf with medium prepared steak and shrimp. Note that it is a BYO wine restaurant if that is important to you.

This is unusual - I'm listing a five star review with a complaint! The complaint being this - I believe the menu was just as long as the 3 minute monologue of what seemed to be endless specials. My eyes glazed over during the waiter's speech, and at the end I was trying hard not to giggle at the ridiculousness of the recitation. I was relieved when it was finally over, and my date was just as baffled. I would have felt much better choosing from specials typed up on a menu, or from a small handful of recited options. I'm not kidding, this guy had memorized at the very least a half dozen appetizers and two dozen entrees and explained what each consisted of, which WAS incredibly impressive, but seriously? I had trouble remembering the name of the menu item by the time he'd finished listing ingredients that I liked, and I was afraid of interrupting the spiel to ask. That aside, the hummus they brought to the table as a precursor to the meal was delicious, and the seafood scampi I hesitantly ordered from the verbal menu came with shrimp and crab meat and was phenomenal. I had a bite of the amber jack fish (also a special), but I'm not a lover of un-fried fish, so I can't really comment on it except that it was pretty good, for un-fried fish. The waitstaff were professional and courteous. My water glass was never less than half full, and finished plates were quickly removed.

Well, I've scanned the reviews and have my own opinion of this place. We visited yesterday for Sunday brunch and almost walked away before even being seated. This was our first visit so we naturally stood at the hostess stand and were never greeted. After looking around we noticed the hostess (Rachel, I had to find out her name she was so inept) standing at the end of the entry hall with her back to us. We stood there, without being greeted, watching Rachel write on her seating chart, white-out things on her seating chart, look around the dining room, walk away and come back. After a couple minutes of this (I was already quite aggravated), she FINALLY acknowledged our presence and said with no smile or greeting of any kind - "Just the two of you?" She then said to wait a minute and proceeded to go and talk to one of the servers for about three minutes. Rachel came back and sat us at the worst seat in the house, between the bathrooms and kitchen door. With the condition of the dining room, messy floors, cafeteria flavor seating, absence of any music in the background we enjoyed crying baby ambience and smells from the bathrooms and kitchen combined! It was THEN that I got the real shock of the day! I opened the menu and saw prices upwards of $50.00 for most entrees and the prices certainly didn't match the atmosphere. I don't understand how other reviewers and the site itself call this $ and $$ dining for there is nothing but $$$$ pricing here! Two of their steaks went for $56.00 each while some seafood, lamb and chicken averaged in the $30 to $45 range. I ordered a bowl of gumbo and it was VERY SALLLLTTTTTTYYYYYYY. My husbands breakfast was 4oz. of steak (it was a sad little piece of the filet it once was!) with a split muffin, two poached eggs, about one tsp. of crabmeat sprinkled on top and three of the skinniest stems of asparagus I've ever seen in my life. I guess the cook likes to shake paprika or some type of herb over everything and yes, it was on my husbands breakfast, totally out of place. Between the rude, clueless hostess and everything else I have described, we will not go back here! Don't waste your money! If you want what this restaurant wishes it could be, go to Mary Mahoney's in Biloxi.

This cool restaurant tucked away in downtown ocean springs is a must go! Had dinner here the other night and what i thought was the biggest letdown (Being BYOD/BYOB) became unnoticeable. They chill your drinks for you on the table and offer to run out and get drinks for you down the street. PROS- Beautiful Atmosphere, Attentive, Very Knowledgeable, and Good service Hummus tasted fresh as can be with included pita and same for their Babba Ghannouj (Eggplant dip), Blackedned shrimp were outrageous. Spinach Lentil soup was extraordinary and Lamb tenderloin was not only lean but cooked as wanted and served well with sauce and Basmati rice. Price was much lower than expected given the slighlty more upscale feel of the restaurant. Cons- Maybe a bit too much cream on their tiramisu as it needed more body to it, but it was still good. Overall a phenomenal place to have a dinner and start the night off right in downtown ocean springs just remember that it is BYOB/BYOD (we used the nearby bars a bit after our meal to remedy this, otherwise you will still get the steel bucket and ice treatment for your drinks)

We went to the Phoenicia yesterday for lunch after reading the good reviews and having it recommend by our landlord. We arrived shortly after noon and waited behind another couple who were waiting to be seated The hostess wasn't around but finally someone told us to sit wherever we wanted. The first couple took one table and we took another. Quickly the couple ahead of us was served water and told the specials. We continued to wait. After about ten minutes the guy who looked like the manager served us some water, but no menus. we continued to wait. Another couple came in and when they received their food while we were still waiting for a waitress we decided to leave. We had been there nearly 20 minutes at that time. We don't mind waiting if the restaurant is full but they were half empty on this day. We are just normal people and would have no problems being served anywhere else.

This is a hidden gem to tourists but the local venture here a lot. The food was amazing, as was the service but it is BYOB. The seafood grits and surf and turf are both to die for. Don't forget it is BYOB.

Awesome food, upscale ambiance. Felt like five star dining with moderate prices. First was the spinach and lentil soup that was very tasty, then a small Greek salad with tart/sweet Balsamic vinaigrette dressing which had mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, etc and the best Goat Cheese. For my main course I had the fried whole soft shell crab topped with more crab covered with a light creamy sauce. Sides were rice and mixed sauteed Julienne veggies. I skipped a beverage and desert and my bill with 20% tip was less than $20!!!! I would of given 5 stars, but our wait person left us sitting for way too long once our meal was over and we had to signal the hostess.

One of my favorite places to eat when I'm at work. Our staff calls in our order and usually in no more than 25 min out order is ready to pick up. We normally order the chicken Schwarma platter which is absolutely awesome! Definitely worth a visit.

We came into Phoenicia on a Saturday night without a reservation, and we were quickly accommodated. The ambience of the place was lovely- low lighting, mirrored walls, the waiters in white shirts and black trousers, and dinner's tone was immediately set with warm pita bread and hummus on the table. We didn't know that the restaurant was BYOB, and when we expressed our disappointment to the waitress, she quickly enlisted someone from the kitchen staff to run over to the local liquor shop to get us a bottle of wine. What service! The food was fantastic, filling, and got us through the next day on leftovers. A special night in Ocean Springs. So glad we made the choice to spend our evening at this restaurant.

Take out service & quality of food awful! Never has right Order and taste and look of entrée is thrown together Very sloppy! Never order there take out, make it at home For a lot cheaper and better tasting. You can buy yellow Plain saffron rice anyplace.

Four of us each had different entrees and all were excellent. Steaks are awesome really prime which is hard to find. Shrimp and grits with crab cakes was fabulous. Cajun red fish was excellent as was the speckled trout with crab and bernaise. Desserts were wow also. Bread pudding, chocolate lava cake, and baklava yum

I am half Palestinian, so I have had my fair share of Mediterranean cuisine. This restaurant is delicious! The menu is small but excellent, the service is impeccable, and everyone was very friendly. Unlimited pita and hummus is brought to the table, which is a nice touch. The establishment does not have a liquor license, but I hear that you can bring your own beer or wine and they will serve you. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The kibbi appetizer is authentic and delicious. I had mahi and crab meat topped with a lemon cream sauce, served with rice pilaf and sauteed vegetables - it was delicious. My sister had the chicken schwarma and it was so tender and excellently seasoned. My grandmother had the noussaka, which was prepared differently than I am used to but it was a good different, very delicious (crab meat on top!!!) The baklava and caramel creme desserts were also great. To top it off, it is on a beautiful street that is wonderful for strolling after dinner. We will return!!

This is about the only Middle Eastern restaurant in the area and its very popular with the locals. My sister lives in the area and she is a big fan of this establishment. They have good food and a nice atmosphere inside although the outside doesn't look that impressive. It seems to be one of the nicer dining atmospheres in the area and has some aspects of fine dining but people wear all sorts of things here so there doesn't seem to be a dress code. They usually have some good local seafood options and those would be my first choice here. Its BYOB and very reasonably priced.

Went for breakfast and the food was great. The restaurant was bright and clean. The server was very friendly. We did notice some errors in the service and lack of knowledge of the breakfast menu but breakfast is new and I think they are still getting used to it. Aside from the minor hiccups due to breakfast being new this was fabulous and we will definitely come back if we are in the address again.

This place has the best food and I should know I am a foodie like nobody's business! I used to know someone who worked there too and he had nothing bad to say about what goes on in the kitchen either! If you are in Ocean Springs MS you must eat here! It is really expensive but worth every penny! You can also bring your own bottle of wine!

This place was awesome. The humus and pita bread is sooooo fresh and good. We also had the Greek salad and Tabouli which was heavenly. I ordered the combination shawarma that comes with humus and some veggies- also really good. All in all, great place, great ambience and it's BYOB. You can't beat that.

This place was delicious! Complementary humus. My chicken was pink in the middle but they gave me a whole new order even though I told them they could just nuke it. Haha they said they weren't that type of establishment! Becka was great and very attentive...they made sure we were happy:-D

  • Lin G.

Restaurants in this area try to be all encompassing. This place is Mediterranean, but they have American breakfast like pancakes, and steak and pasta, AND Mexican!! Wait a minute, you might say, that just can't be right. Mexican and Mediterranean? I know I was skeptical as fuck when I saw their menu. But our server was friendly and I got the beef schwarma. She suggested some extra sauce on the side. Listen to your servers boys and girls. They will not lead you astray. That dish was absolutely phenomenal. Tender juicy slices of beef, delicious rice, hummus, all together to die for. And the portion was enormous. If I were not so damn greedy I could have eaten for two days.

    (5)
  • Mike L.

The food is good, there is very little Mediterranean items on the menu. There menu has mostly steaks and seafood. The prices are very high and I can find other restaurants that are better considering the menu

We went for lunch over the weekend. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Food was all excellent quality, but I was expecting my schwarma to taste like one from the streets of Greece.

  • Bethany R.

This was quiet possibly one of the fanciest AND cheapest breakfasts I've ever had. There were white table cloths, marble floors (if I'm remembering correctly), beautiful mirrors, and sharply dressed (friendly & attentive) staff. I ordered black coffee and a veggie omelet (yum!). The omelet came with asiago grits, 3 dollar size pancakes, and a piece of mellon. The grand total was $8.68. (I was impressed.) It was an experience I would have paid more for without a second thought... But I didn't, therefore - 5 stars.

Phenomenonal food with a hefty price tag to boot. They do not serve alcohol, however you can bring a bottle of your own. The food was amazing and was cooked to perfection. We will be back when we have the money to splurge.

  • Frank N.

We came here on a coworker's recommendation. Then we came back two days later because the food was so good!! I think my favorite dish was the most simple one on the menu: Chicken Schwarma. The chicken was so tender, and the rice with bits of wheat were a wonderful pairing. You'll get unlimited Humus & Pita at your table, and you've gotta bring your own alcoholic drinks. I recommend reservations, even on most weeknights.

Ate here Saturday for the first time in the morning for a late lunch around 1045...food was pretty good, I had the coconut pancake. One thing that really took away from the atmosphere was the bald dude at the door who I guess was the manager/host...he barely said anything when we walked in and didn't point is where to go... He had a cordless phone up to his ear and was walking around like the most upset person on the planet. He set a spot for me and my guest, and instead of saying "your server will be right out" or "enjoy your meal" he just walked off. My friend and I were like WTF was that? Lame first impression.

The food was good but overpriced especially since this is a BYOB or BYOW establishment. The Hummus was however very good. For fine dining I'd expect 'all' the wait staff to be properly trained in fine dining techniques.

This is a really nice restaurant. We've had 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner there so far in our 2 week visit. Everything we've eaten there has been wonderful. And right on top are the pancakes. They were best I've ever eaten. Breakfast there is just delightful. The staff and service are pretty much perfect and the room is bright and very comfortable. Our dinner there was wonderful although we only sampled one appetizer and one main. The fried green tomato appetizer with lump crab and crawfish in a sauce over top was delicious. Our chicken shawarma was great too. We are not big eaters but we each had our fill plus took enough home for another snack. The chicken was so tender and moist with a different but wonderful flavor. The rice portion was large and was done with little pieces of toasted vermicelli. The evening atmosphere in the rooms is very romantic and cozy with soft lighting and not too noisy even with a lot of diners. Our server was Becca and she was extremely attentive without being at all intrusive - the perfect server. This restaurant is just one of the many reasons we want to come back to Ocean Springs again next winter.

I have been here several times because my mom and my sister in law love this place but I don't really see the attraction. I love their hummus and pita bread, and could eat that by the gallon but Ive ordered the chicken shawarma and its not that great. The falafel wrap was good but my mom ordered the lentil soup last time and it had a hair in it and the service stunk. Our waitress disappeared and we had to flag down two other people to get water and our bill.

One of the best Greek restaurants I've been too. I always order the chicken schwarma. The meat is tender, melts in your mouth good. Cant go wrong with their spinach salad either.

this goes for sunday brunch. i'm not sure if they just have something against take-out orders, but i had THE worst "brunch" meal i've ever had at phoenicia. i ordered eggs benedict and this is what i got: cold english muffin, split with two HARD-poached eggs (yes, hard. i mean they may as well have been hard boiled) and no fucking hollandaise sauce. so basically, i paid $8.95 for that. i think i ordered hashbrowns too but by the time i saw what i paid for i was so fucking mad, i can't remember past what they call "eggs benedict." now, i understand brunch. it is a moneymaker for restaurants to serve breakfast fancied up with a few sauces. they should not have any trouble putting basic plates like eggs benedict together. on top of that, it's NOT eggs benedict without hollandaise sauce involved. otherwise, it's hard-poached eggs on an english muffin for $8.95; otherwise known as highway robbery. this is the kind of lackluster bs that makes it more enticing to stay away from phoenicia b/c it would take a colossal-take-my-pants-off-at-the-table-this-shit-is-so-good meal to win me back (and this ain't fucking galatoire's). so with that, shame on you for ruining a sunday brunch option. i can make my own fucking hollandaise sauce.

Such a pleasant surprise on our visit to Biloxi. Really goo food all around. I had the beef shwarma and my husband had the surf and turf with crab cakes and prime rib. Everything tastes so yummy. Staff was really friendly too. I'd definitely go back if we lived here.

Pretty good, very good service, great food, nice atmosphere. Very expensive, but you do get large portions for the price. However, I would not consider it traditional med food, just gourmet American or maybe Cajun.

Our favorite restaurant in Ocean Springs. The food is always great and the service and friendliness of the staff outstanding. They always put together a wonderful vegan plate for me and the filet that they prepared for my better half matched the best she's ever had. Remember to bring your favorite bottle of wine with you on your visit!

This is my favorite restaurant in Ocean Springs. The food is excellent and the service is top-notch. Dinner is much more expensive than lunch, so if you're on a budget, that's something to consider. My dad said they had the best spinach salad he's ever had, and he was quite a food connoisseur. I always ordered felafel, pita, hummus, and baba ganoush. I also had some fried eggplant patties with tahini (can't rememeber the exact name of the dish) several years ago that were nothing short of AMAZING. The last time I was there, I didn't see them on the lunch menu. They were SO good that I'll never forget them....To drink, I ordered the iced tea. It was fresh and delicious with plenty of refills from by their courteous staff. This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants, and definitely the best I've found in Ocean Springs. Everyone I've ever talked to in Ocean Springs has great things to say about it. I definitely recommend it!

I love this place more every time I go. My husband was a little apprehensive as he's a meat and potatoes guy. He's just as in love with it as I am now. They are very accommodating on any changes you want to make but there is not much reason to make a change. This place is great for lunch with a relaxed atmosphere and very reasonable prices or an amazing dinner. Their dinner prices are a great deal higher but the quality and portions are well worth it.

GO. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! Everything I have eaten here from the complimentary hummus and pita to the shawarma to the chateaubrianne has been a delight, and the raspberry creme brulee is the best I've experienced on either side of the Atlantic. They also have a good brunch, and the homemade lemonade is a perfect treat in the summertime. The Lebanese tea isn't bad, either. Things to know before you go: -they do not serve liquor, but will allow you to bring your own bottle -it is considered fine dining, but reservations are not necessary (unless it's during holiday time) -most people dress up, but casual attire is a-ok

Skip breakfast and GO! I've been to Phoenicia more times than I can remember, and I have to admit that as much as I adore the food and enjoy chatting with Sam, the owner, over hummus and pita and rosewater/pine-nut lemonade, I also miss the pre-Katrina look. My favorites have always been shrimp schwarma and baba ganouj. And the hummus, of course. But the schwarma is something to write home about. Both the shrimp and the chicken come with the same remarkably nutty, creamy, but light sauce. The sauce wakes me up at night, sometimes, just dreaming of that elusive ... something... that Sam won't divulge. The menu is one-of-a-kind for the area, from the heart-healthy chicken dish to the more traditional Lebanese/Mediterranean classics. The baklava is delicious and the special coffee is astoundingly good - served "Turkish Style".

One of my favorties on the Coast! Consistently excellent! Delicious hummus. Today the amberjack was as fresh as I've ever tasted. It is a bit pricey for dinner but well worth it. Its a BYOB place so don't forget your favorite bottle of wine. Oddly lunch is very reasonable. The portions are huge. I've never saved room for dessert but have heard great things! :)

I was a bit intimidated by all the reviews saying this place was "uppity" on the inside. Once i went inside, though, there was nothing uppity about it. The place is simply nice and clean inside. The food is as good as I remember it. I have been missing the shwarma (sp?) for years!! And the hummus is fabulous as usual. I miss the combination shwarma of chicken and beef, though! I didn't notice anything special or unique about the breakfast menu.

Me and my mother just happened to wander upon this little gem during our vacation and were amazed by the quality and affordability of the food. We both had the crab cake lunch special which was impeccable. The bottomless hummus they give at the start of the meal was amazing as was the spinach salad with bacon, mushrooms, and a sweet vinaigrette. This was the best meal we had during our gulf coast adventure!

I've been here a number of times & I always like my meals! I especially love the stuffed grape leaves! They're brunch is also tasty! I will only caution against going on a holiday. We went last mothers day for brunch...we made reservations & still waited an hour. At the time I was pregnant & meat made me sick so I really wanted some of their pancakes (I know...pancakes @ a Greek restaurant)...but we waited so long that it went into lunch. Then right before we were sat...they shut down menu service because they couldn't keep up with the volume of people there, & turned it into an over priced buffet. I ended up eating a $29 salad & went to ihop when we left.

The chicken schwarma (tastiest item on a menu full of great lebanese/ greek choices) is served at lunch with a side of hummus, man-style bread, and rice, for less than $10. The stuffed grape leaves are also great. If you are in the area, you must try this place for lunch or supper. It's one of the best restaurants on the entire gulf coast. The price goes up for supper, like most fine dining establishments.

My friend and I stopped by for lunch based on Bill C's review. Because Bill C. had said it was a "upscale restaurant" I called ahead to make sure that they would seat us when I showed up in shorts. They were very welcoming and assured us that I would not have a problem. When we walked in we were very impressed with the decor and atmosphere and I could understand how this could be considered upscale and may be for dinner. I began by ordering the hummus, which is bottomless and awesome!!! The great thing about Mediterranean food is how it open your senses to higher levels of flavors and is unlike anything else offered on the Coast. I had the Mahi Mahi which was smothered in a light pecan and mango glaze and served with perfectly cooked juilet squash. They were out of their famous Lebanese Tea but the lemonade was to die for. The prices are very reasonable. $10 to $15 per person for complete lunches. The service was excellent and my glass never went empty. They were not overbearing and allowed my friend and I to enjoy the restaurant, our meal and the ambiance with little to no distraction. The owner was ever present and I enjoyed his catering to his daughter, which was an added attraction seeing this savvy business man spoiling her was a thoughtful delight. If you are tired of the same old restaurant sthat dot the Coast, a drive out to Ocean Springs would reenergize your taste buds. Definitely a hometown favorite!!!

I have to admit, Im a bit more of a fan of the pre-Katrina look of Phoencia...it seemed more down to earth and less "uppity". Prior to the storm the walls were covered in murals and artwork..now i get a complex when i walk in because the walls are covered around the dining area in glass mirrors. Yay..just what I want on a bad hair day. :p Ok, getting past my complexes, the food here is delish!!!!!! Everything Ive had from beef shwarma to the Phoenicia Heart Healthy (a pasta dish loaded with veggies and grilled chicken..yeah..doesnt sound very exciting but its quite awesome), to the falafel sandwiches and the fish of the day were all incredibly awesome!!! The prices here are very reasonable too. I think the most expensive dishes may be 20-24 but most of the stuff on the menu is more in the 13-15 range for dinner. I havent been since they started back doing breakfast, but when I did, their breakfasts were AWESOME! I would regularly get the spinach and artichoke omelette..to die for! And it came with grits, toast, and pancakes...i think all for around 7 or 8 bucks! The service has always been good and the owner is regularly here and visits the tables to make sure everything is ok!

Phoenicia was recommended to me by a coworker as his favorite place to eat on the Gulf coast, so I came in with some pretty high expectations for this place. Well, I can now say that Phoenicia is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at thorough out my travels. I ordered their red snapper dinner special that came with fresh pita and hummus, french onion soup, asiago cheese curds and vegetable medley. The red snapper was the best I've ever tasted, by far. The tomato sauce they used was delicate in flavor and didn't overpower the meal. I took a piece of tiramisu to go and they even threw in some extra pita and hummus for the following morning's breakfast. The staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience at their restaurant. I just can't recommend this place highly enough.

I usually stop here when I'm in town. Interesting decor. They try to be a fancy restaurant, but they arent and don't need to be. The fresh hummus is great. I usually get the beef kabobs. Cooked just right.

Fabulous food. Friendly and helpful service. They even offered a gluten free pasta option that was not on the menu when they found out my wife had celiac. A real highlight for my visit to the area.

I'm rarely impressed by Mississippi "cuisine", but Phoenicia is a wonderful place. This was my second time there, and I brought an out of town friend who wanted to experience good Southern food. They have tons of fresh seafood specials, and I ended up with fried green tomatoes covered in crab meat (can't get any more Southern than that!) and my friend had the blackened snapper. Both were excellent, as was the gumbo, lentil soup, and salad. It is an upscale place for the Coast, and you see a lot of well dressed folks and business people. Our waiter (who used to work for Wells Fargo in San Francisco) was extremely good and very pleasant. The owner and his wife (but not his small child) were around as well. I highly recommend this restaurant for good quality Southern food with a Mediterranean twist. It is the nicest place I've been to eat anywhere on the Miss. Coast.

Ridiculous. Ridiculous. Ridiculous. Horrible service, horrible food, and horrible HORRIBLE prices! I don't know who these people are who love and rave about this place--the hummus was the WORST I've ever tasted (and I've had it all over the world). The "waitress" said, all cheery, "How's your hummus?" and I said, " You can take it from the table; it's inedible." And she was SHOCKED because "well they make it from scratch here." And I should have said, "it shows." Pathetic local restaurant charging outrageous prices for crappy food you can get in a tv dinner. Seriously, Phoenicia, do you think you can charge big city prices in Ocean Springs, Mississippi? RIDICULOUS price vs. what you receive at restaurants down here. In any other "real" city it would be unacceptable. Plus, WHY does "fine dining" in Mississippi mean "A LOUD-ASS MUSICIAN playing crappy music on Friday nights while you are trying to eat?" AND, the prices for the steaks was obscene. They are as pricey as Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, where you get much better service and product for the same dollar amount. Ridiculous.

My family LOVED this restaurant. We went for Saturday lunch, upon recommendation from a friend and based on YELP reviews. We enjoy Middle Eastern restaurants and have several good ones in our hometown of Mobile, AL, and we weren't disappointed with Phoenicia! We ordered two great appetizers, in addition to the yummy complimentary and unlimited humus and pita: meat pies and falafel - both were excellent and full of flavor. We would order these again; our only regret was that there wasn't more, even though all 4 of us had a portion of each. Both came with delicious sauces and fresh lettuce and tomato. Two of us ordered the chicken schwarma plate (see other reviews) and I had the chicken schwarma sandwich/wrap - all were delicious. We are used to chopped chicken schwarma, but this version was thin strips of chicken piled on the plate or stuffed into the wrap. The schwarma sauce on the side was tasty. The plates also came with a tiny "salad"of lettuce and tomato with yogurt dressing, humus, and rice pilaf. The very generous wrap (a good 8" cut into 2 portions) came with a choice of a side; I chose tabbouleh. This tabbouleh was more parsley and less bulgar wheat than I'm accustomed to, but it was good, with a lemony "bite" to it. We finished the meal with baklava - good, light, green with pistachios, but rather small and missing the dripping honey that much baklava has. Nonetheless, we will be eating here again and again, I'm sure!
